In our last show before notre voyages en France, Tim, Steve, and Andrew cut it up while we watch the opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. We talk about WWC & the multiple questionable VAR penalty calls, the general state of the Men’s National Team, the Bruin injury, implications for the Sounders, and more! We can’t get enough of Mitch McConnell’s fave whiskey, and the Macho Man Randy Savage is a better soccer analyst than any of us.
Open Cup was a blast, even if we didn’t get the result we wanted. Steve, Tim, Nate, and Andrew cover the first week or so of the Women’s World Cup, including the smashing USA debut vs. Thailand.
We move to the state of the Tacoma Defiance, and how we think that might intersect with the US Open Cup result. As usual, lots of chatter and a great time had by all.
One more show to come this week, and then some of us will be headed to the last two weeks of WWC in France!

Full show coming Saturday, but we wanted to get some audio from Andrew Hammond sports writer for the Tacoma News Tribune. (Support local media.) Andrew threw a couple of questions at Brian Schmetzer, and also got some time with Harry Shipp after the Sounders fell to the Timbers in USOC play on Wednesday.
Enjoy, and see you on Saturday for the full show!
Steve, Andrew, and Nate from Tacoma were joined by Dave and Carol of @HandsFreeFooty (who just had a great show with Alexi Lalas, BTW) to talk a little about Tacoma soccer & Sounders between last week’s double-header of matches with Reign FC and Tacoma Defiance. Reign performed and Defiance #DidNotLoseDooDooDooDoo, but we didn’t know that second bit just yet.
We expound on the quality of each of the teams, what we can look forward to for USOC, and talk about the matches of the prior week. We also have thoughts on what folks might do to get their footy fix in the drought of Sounders home matches between now and 6/29.
Welcome back! On the hottest day of the year so far, Steve and Tim bid a warm and sticky welcome to new cast member Andrew Hammond! https://twitter.com/AHammTNT! We chat about the draw v. Minnesota, make strong Muppet comparisons, look ahead to Houston at home, and chat about UEFA Champions League by way of listerner questions!
Oh, and we seriously over-analyze the implications of signing Joevin Jones and Xavier Arreaga (who Steve keeps calling Aguerra).
Steve & Tim visit with new Friend of Pod, Mr. Andrew Hammond, utility sportswriter for the Tacoma News Tribune!
We go over the first eight-day 3-match winless streak of the season, discuss options going into Minnesota, and generally have a fantastic time.
Listener questions, local team bantz, and all the usual shenanigans ensue.
We unpack the stunning streak of success the Sounders have seen to start the season, and look forward to changes — probably a little later than we might like (we are impatient) but definitely some interesting moves. USOC, Defiance, some acquisition strategy leading to the summer window, and what we should expect to see coming into this 8-day 3-match stretch, away & home v LAFC bracketing a “rivalry” match v. the Earthquakes at home.
Listen to the show to find out how to get some signed Torres gear! It’s super easy if you’re a Tacoman!
Tim & Steve offer a warm welcome to Casey Catherwood, Creative Director for WeRTacoma at Cheney Stadium! We talk about the Tacoma Defiance launch, the upcoming Reign FC launch at Cheney, and the state of professional sports in Tacoma.
After the break, Tim and Steve speculate on Vancouver Away and the Sounders’ chances in BC Place. We review our feelings on the season, try to figure out specifically where we might be in trouble, and what our boys need to focus on to win away.
We painted the town red, and they painted the Chicago River Rave Green and are the first team this year to secure 9 points on the road — in three matches! Kevin, Tim, and Steve are in studio (with NEW & nicely tuned equipment for your listening pleasure), where we analyze the Colorado match, talk about how things are shaping up, whether there’s rotation in our near future…
